Ich verwende hdparm -B255 -S180, dann schaltet sich die Platte nach 15min Inaktivität ab und beim nächsten Zugriff automatisch wieder ein. Das ganze wird via init script beim Systemstart einmalig pro relevanter Platte konfiguriert.
