It's not a big deal, but makes things much easier.
what i find worse is when people write their reply before the original
message. it happens to me sometimes, too, since my mail client
(google) does this automatically.
Hehe, I sometimes do this as well (without using gmail), just because it
makes reading mails easier. Instead of scrolling down the whole mail,
you respond on top. I think that's valid if you're not directly refering
to a specific content of the other mail but more to the email/thread in
general.
