No, this is only a convenience in our samples, it's probably better
for your to manage your dependencies yourself.

The launchpad/webapp is probably a good starting point, it has some
sample/demo/scripting bundles that you probably won't need, but we
don't have an exact list at this point. Feel free to ask about
specific bundles if you're not sure.

Not sure what you mean here - for the Sling part you could either run
the lauchpad/app or launchpad/webapp, depending on what's more
convenient for you. I'm not familiar enough with GWT to help you with
debugging that part.

See the Jackrabbit docs or list for how to configure this, and
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLING-739 about how to specify
the Jackrabbit configuration for Sling. You could also run Jackrabbit
in its own webapp, and use the Sling repository client to acquire the
repository via JNDI.
