Hi,

I've read several articles about installing and using Slony, but I
haven't found any that cover the basics of how Slony is implemented
(or I'm too dumb to realize it). Most of the material is geared
towards explaining Slony's purpose or usage, not its implementation.

Without going into too many details, how is slony implemented? I know
that might be a big and scary answer, so I'd really like to know...

- What is slon? Is it a network service that other nodes communicate
with? Is slonik its client?
- How does replication happen? When a change happens to the master, is
the change pushed or pulled from the master?
- What do the triggers do?
- In the usage articles I've found, databases are replicated on a
single machine and a slon is started for each node. If I am
replicating across two computers, does the computer on which the
slonik commands are executed matter?

If anyone can point me to some good information or can help me
understand, it would be grealy appreciated.

Thanks,
Sebastian
