If I need to restart the postmaster on my slony replication slave, should I shut down the slony daemons first?

shouldn't matter. i run slony using the daemontools monitoring programs, so i never bother to stop slony. the daemontools monitor will automatically restart it for me once the postmaster is back up. if you don't have an auto-restart, then you will need to manually restart slony after the new postmaster is up and running.
