i didn't have pg_config [i tried to find it with locate and find] but i noticed that slony needs a pg-devel package [postgresql-devel-8.3.5-1PGDG.rhel5.x86_64.rpm]; i installed it, i found pg_config and now everything's working :)

Run ./configure --with-pgconfigdir=PATH_TO_PG_CONFIG
replace PATH_TO_PG_CONFIG to directory path where pg_config script is
located. You can determine it by using "locate pg_config" command or by
using midnight commander Command -> Find File menu.
