Yes, most of the basic infrastructure is up and
hits are improving quite healthily. And surprisingly
there are days in which over 2000 unique hosts
have accessed linux.com.sg. Hits now are already
double of last month's.
These are the steps which I forsee will bring SLP
to newer heights;
1) We need a person fully and solely in charge of
advertising of our website. At the end of 2 months
from now, we want to see our banners flying proudly
over linuxtoday.com, or other major linux websites
worldwide. Who can do such a job? Who wants to
take up this?
2) To do up a killer feature, which is found nowhere
in the world other than Singapore Linux Portal. It has
to be an idea as innovative as the Tamagotchi. One
of these ideas can be the ICQ push info to user technology,
but I am open to other ideas, like Open Source online
mud, open source online tamagotchis which can mate
with other tamagotchis to produce more tamagotchis,
Online CyberSDU which you pair up people with very
similar psychological profiles, or even some groupware
software for the soon to be popular WAP phones.
I am thinking that if it is possible, I will try to propose
these things as some third year project for NUS students
to do. If that is the case, I will have to find the money,
probably some vendor which can benefit from such a
project too.
3) Get ourselves to be the member of some bigger Linux
body. Linux International, for example.
What do you people think about it? Btw, I may sound mad
to you. If I do, that is because I am. :)
