As Rodos said, try expect. I use it quite a bit and find it
both simple and powerful. You could probably prototype
your requirement by using the "autoexpect" script that
comes with the distribution: an expect script that
generates new expect scripts. The O'Reilly book on
Expect is also very good. For remote control of systems,
and automating certain tasks, I find it better than Perl,
especially since it doesn't require any software on the client.
