As promised at the VideoFest a few months ago, there's going to be a SLUG AudioFest. This will be at Macquarie University on Saturday 12 February and go from about 10am to 4pm. It'll cost $5 for SLUG members, $15 for non-members and will be free for presenters. I'll send out a fuller announcement and registration form in January but for now, I'm just after presenters. The topics that I expect will be covered will include anything related to audio on Linux (or general stuff about audio that would be of interest to Linux users). Example topics would include (but are not limited to): - Introduction to audio on Linux (configuration of sound drivers, etc) - MIDI - Music playing (mp3, etc) - Music composition tools - Audio recording - Networked audio - How to write programs that control audio hardware (eg using OSS, ALSA) - Demonstrations of nifty audio playback/capture/processing applications - Demonstrations of commercial products for Linux - Sound detection - Sound analysis - Sound synthesis - Speech recognition/generation Please let me know if you want to present on a topic and give me a title and short description.
