There definitely are linux virii. They'are fairly rare in the wild as virii,
spread easiest amongst common (windows) platform. They also spread easier
amongst users who are less likely to use safe computing. This means you'll
probably see lot more linux virii as linux becomes more mainstream.

For some reason some of the people who run linux are not concerned about the
possibility of virii. Kind of reminds of the NT peple who 3-5 years ago were
proclaiming: "I dont have to worry about viruses as I run NT."
