Terry,
I had a similar problem, it appears that browsers cannot access dbs on
remote servers.
Why? They just can't.
What you need to do is run an app on the server to process the request
from user and interrogate the db and return the recordset to the user.
user (Browser) <--> web server <--> app <--> db
Corba/Java is made for this type of thing.
