Hmmm... I know :-( Would it be any easier if the Novell machine hosted
the Tape? This can be done, but I really don't want to have to buy
extra software just for backup

I believe I can use mars-nwe / ncpfs to mount the Novell volume native.
But whether the backup would be useful for recovery is the real
question.

Yes... I think you have to have the admin account setup manually in
exactly the same state as it was on the backup or things fail. How
could they make backup so damn complicated?
