There are a number of cards and ISDN "modems" that can be used.
We eventually selected a card based on the HiSax chipset that is fully
supported by the standard Linux kernel.
We have two Linux machines using these cards on 129k ISDN connections with
Telstra BPD. One of these machines has had no problems at all. The other
seems to get upset (i.e. panic) very occasionally when the Telstra router
does something weird.
I've used them in both Linux and Windows machines with great success. I
purchased from them TiCom for about $300 each, but their web site seems to
have gone off the air.
