Hey Alex, I actually had this problem just *moments* ago!


First off, go to your TrueType directory and type 'mkfontdir',
this'll catalogue the font files you've got there (if any, but it
WANTS you to do it anyway). If there isn't a TrueType directory
(it's somewhere in /usr/X11/lib/fonts...?), make one.

You'll be able to find out exactly where the TrueType directory
should be if you look in /etc/X11/XF86Config...

Then, I just added a FontPath entry in /etc/X11/XF86Config to the
misc directory that sits along side TrueType.

Also, make sure your xfs daemon is running, otherwise X is going to
have a challenge getting to your fonts!
