Couldn't agree more. I was involved with UTS for over 13 years, as a
part time undergraduate, then doing my PhD. Over that time i have seen
class sizes increase, and the quality of graduates and lecturers
dramatically reduced, and they still can't meet their budgets because of
immense cutbacks at the coalface of university teaching.

One year we had an informal directive from the dean that we were no
allowd to fail a single 1st year student, because any dropouts would
reduce our funding for the next year and blow the budgets.

I have personally seen Computer Systems Engineers graduate, which I
wouldn't give tuppence for.

While there are still some very good graduates, be prepared for a lot of
very poor quality ones for a very long time to come
