Great.

Can I put in a plug for tbl here? tbl is the table formatter
for (g)roff e.g. groff -t.

For some reason in the past I needed to understand tbl intimately and
got the book 'Typsetting Tables on the Unix System', by McGilton
and McNabb.

I was most struck by the reviews on the back cover:

"You're a pair of lunatics" - James Gosling, Sun
"Good Grief!" - Ken Greer, Elan Computer Group
"Three Hundred Pages on TBL?!?" - Professor Patrick Powell, Uni Minnesota

If you have any of WR Stevens books, (Unix Network Programming,
TCP/IP Illustrated etc.) these have been typeset using troff.

Curious, I asked him if he had used fancy macros to do the diagrams
for TCP/IP illustrated. No, hand created.
