I am attempting to establish a ppp connection using Linux with
connect.com.au

I notice that their router to which I am connecting is sending OSPF-hello
(protocol 89) packets looking for its neighbours. I also notice that
these are multicast packets addressed to 224.0.0.5.

1. Should I be responding to these packets?
2. Am I capable of responding to these packets?
3. How do I respond to these packets?
4. Should I be getting connect.com.au to perform their route advertisment
some other way?

Because I am not responding to these packets, when I do a traceroute from
within the BPD network to my IP block that is assigned to be behind this
ppp connection, the traceroute stops at connect.lnk.telstra.net. Am I
correct in assuming that this is because my assigned IP block is not being
advertised in the connect.com.au network because of the above?

Howard.
