I have m cannon bj300 which is attached to the win98se system that my
daughter uses print all my Star Office material from my linux box.
I used printtool to set up a samba printer when I was using Red Hat 6.1,
and when I moved to SuSE 6.3 I used the yast utility. There is an option
to set up printers in both that allows the setting up of a remote samba
printer. I had to choose the bj10e to get it to work in one of them as it
did not specifically support my printer, but it works fine. I also had to
select the "fix staircase effect" option in each case.
I also had to give the printer a share name in windows (I called mine
canon - imaginative ;-) so that I could call it from Linux and set
windows to share it and files.

Stay well and happy
