First prob: I have a WangDAT 3100 Tape drive and am unable to mount
it. SuSE finds it as its booting, but doesn't mount it . We've tried
with a tape in it. We have also tried with an identical unit to
eliminate faulty equipment. We also never got Redhat to mount another of
the same a while ago, but gave up.
When we try and mount it using Utilities/Tape backup tool it just
says the same thing, cant mount cos there's no tape in it. The drive
does actually go through the rigmarole of identifying a tape when u
stick it in, so I can assume its functioning.
I dont mind if we have to manually mount it whenever we need it, thats
no prob, but we do need it
Next prob: We (my brother and I) went playing with whatever we could
find after we installed SuSE and we found Sys V init editor.
I guess firstly we need a general description of run levels, and
secondly, why lots of the same deamons are listed in "start when
entering run level 3" and "stop when entering run level 3".
Last Prob: We have a redhat box at work which we use for a file server,
hence the original attempt to set up a tape drive and back up on a
nightly basis. It never gets turned off. When we set up samba I remeber
it always had nmb running alongside it .. but I dont see any sign of nmb
in SuSE .. what is nmb?
