I remember when IBM had a strangle hold almost as strong as M$ do now. It
took the PC revolution to break it (?). Open source may or may not turn
out to be the next monopoly breaker. Apple's demise has been forcast now
for ten years, but they still sell more than they can make. The only thing
you can be sure of is that you can't be sure.
In the mean time, Microsoft's monopoly does the same as any other monopoly
- it creates a slothful, top heavy, inefficient monster. My objection is
not that Gates makes millions (good luck to him). It's just that several
(not all) of his products are plain bad,
