I would have thought that you just change the value in the file, /etc/hosts
and then reboot the machine.
I had a quick look through Frisch (Essential System Administration) and
there was nothing specific for SCO.
Also if the machine is going to be a DNS (name server) for other machines on
an intranet, you might check (on the other machines) in their
/etc/resolv.conf and /etc/hosts that the new correct IP address is used.
Most other files refer to the machine by name anyway.
Also make sure that the ethernet outlet can run with the new IP assignment;
recently I spent about an hour with one of our IT people with a similar
problem until they patched it into the correct subnet.
