Chances are you have a Telstra Touchphone somewhere sharing the same line
as your modem. The touchphone contains a capacitor, that needs to be
regularly charged from the current on the phone line. That happens about
once every 20 minutes. The phone charges itself and in doing so drops
the phone line current ... and guess what happens to the modem at that
point!
