Oops! Excuse my grammar.
I was talking about alerting the operator/administrator on specific events,
such as disk full, disk at 90% capacity, sendmail process died etc.
Alerts are sent to you by various means eg: paging your pager or sending SMS
to your mobile.
Tivoli and other tools have this ability to do all this from one console, so
that you have this big screen view of your entire network. You also have the
ability to write scripts to monitor any old thing.
