what is load average ?
sendmail has problems when load averages gets high and the "RefuseLA"
needs to be adjusted. i only discovered this when i had problems with
fetchmail returning connection to localhost errors; whereby i checked the
firewall, dns, named, sendmail init scripts, tested telnet to port 25
connection refused, and finally saw something to do with load average in
ps. a few man pages later, i fixed the problem i always get when the
system has a high uptime. i always thought it was sendmail's fault.
what's a healthy load average ?
