Now THIS is funny... a very similar thing happened to
me on the srever at home this week, after installing
Mandrake 6.0... Starting the eth0 interface worked
fine - logged out and kept working on the workstation.
Next morning - Pffft,... No network...
Turns out that the box had re-booted during the night
(power fluctuations - yes, the UPS goes in tonight !!),
and the BIOS was re-mapping the IRQ/IO of the network
card !!
AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
