I've been running netscape LDAP, Messinging and Web servers and Legato
backup software on symlinked directories on Solaris for about 2 years
now.
Never had any problem with it. (except for sys admins who fail to read
the
documentation that says that I've done it and then blow away a directory
like /usr2/netscape only to find files gone missing from /usr/netscape
:-)
Course I'd rather not do this but when you have 95% full on /usr and 20%
full
on /usr2 and a new application must go into /usr, then symlink is the
solution.
ln -s /usr2/netscape /usr/netscape
