Hi Rachel,

I'm subscribed to the ProFTPD list and you must be a subscriber to submit
otherwise it won't work.

I think some one had asked this before on the list and the problem was that
ProFTPD wouldn't know which use the password you entered for "developer"
belonged to.

I'll have another look at some emails here if I haven't deleted them for
ya.. (you know, limited drive space).

Subject: [SLUG] OT: Proftp config advice

Hi gang,

I think the proftp list is dead so I'm asking for a
little help here - the proftp web site doesn't have any details
either....

I want to setup an anon login but with a twist.

I already have a user that can login as a special alias, lets say it
looks like this:

<Anonymous /opt/web/data/ftp/developers>

User rachel
UserAlias developers rachel
Group cdev

...
</Anonymous>

This user then logs in as "developers" but uses their UNIX passwd
to authenticate.

What I want to know is, how to provide this for the same directory,
for multiple users.

What I want is something like:

User rachel, robert
UserAlias developers rachel, robert

So that I would use my passwd and Robert would use his.

This obviously didn't work.

I also tried:

User rachel
User robert
UserAlias developers rachel
UserAlias devlopers robert

And every other permutation in between.

I also tried separate <Anonymous>...</Anonymous> blocks
and that didn't work either.

If anyone is doing this in Proftpd, how?

thanks!
rachel
