I've got some kernal modules that were compiled for redhat 6.0, (kernel
2.2.5-15) that I would like to run under Mandrake 7.1 (Kernel
2.2.15-mdk4) Unfortunatly I can't get the source code for the modules to
compile them myself. Two of the three modules load ok using insmod -f
but the third crashed the whole system and displays the following:

Oops: 0002
[Status of CPU registers]
Stack: [Stack contents]
Call trace: [what appears a memory dump]
Code: 89 02 85 [lots more numbers]
Aiee, killing interrupt handler
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill the idle task
In interrupt handler - not syncing

(Personally I think an exclaimation point after Aiee would have been a
nice touch :)

Is there any way to work around this, such as trying to recompile the
kernel with different options? (I've no idea which options to try
here.)
What does the -mdk4 in the kernel version refer to - is it a sub-version
of teh main kernel, and would downloading the source for the plain
kernel and using that instead be of any help?
