I've been thinking about what Linux newbies might need/want at/after the LinuxFest. Someone mentioned the idea of distributing printed copies of the one page linux manual (see link below) .. this is a great idea. Here's the link: http://www.powerup.com.au/~squadron/ It's available in pdf and postscript - im sure some of you have some monster printers at work .. we could release thousands of copies from an aeroplane ! A few bootdisks with fdisk (for /mbr) could come in handy on the day too for various reasons, and in case some people needed their machine back the way it was at the end of the day (Windows, right ?) Would it be possible to provide a stack of Redhat 6.2 / Mandrake 7.1 CDs on the day for $5 or $10 each ? Maybe someone from EverythingLinux or whatever could provide these ? AFAIK many new Linux users can quickly mess something up so things dont work or become very messy etc .. so they'd probably like to reinstall it from the CD when they get home .. I think Mandrake 7.1 and Redhat 6.2 are the best here. They'll need a CD to start installing on the day anyway .. hmm .. maybe this was already thought of .. Oh yeh .. there's a Installfest HOWTO also, might be worth the read: http://www.apis.demon.co.uk/LinuxDay/installfest-HOWTO.html I'm sure there will be some vi and emacs propaganda strategically placed throughout the day :) Regards, Matt -- SLUG - Sydney Linux Users Group Mailing List - http://www.slug.org.au To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in the text
