I am not sure here but doesnt emacs come up by default
with a help screen telling you all about what to do????
I think it will only stop doing that if you have your own .emacs files
and settings like 'setenv EDITOR emacs" etc not set.
So after the first run it comes up with the explanation what to do
and it includes how to close it down.
The software is written by people who want people to succeed.
