Mandrake 7.1 behind a win98se ICS connection (i know i know.,)
when running xchat i get this for pretty much ever server.
i have heard stuff about this prob but i cant remember where.
Connecting to irc.efnet.net (199.3.235.130) port 6667..
--- Connected. Now logging in..
--- AUTH :*** Looking up your hostname...
--- AUTH :*** Checking Ident
--- AUTH :*** No Ident response
--- AUTH :*** Found your hostname
--- Closing Link: 203.164.15.194 (You are not authorized to use this server)
--- Disconnected (Remote host closed socket).
Is there any way around this..

btw i was just playing around with xscreensaver and there is one saver caller
sonar it plots lil planes on a sonar but one option is to set it to plot pinged
hosts but to do this i have to setuid it so it an acess raw ICMP funtions.. this
may be a stupid Q but what does this actually do and how is it done. If i man
it i only get a programers refrence which talks about setting the effective
userid of somthing but this seems to me to be such a gaping security flaw it
dosent make sence so it is not what i think it is..
