In an article in LinuxPlanet http://www.linuxplanet.com/opinions/2083/1/ Dennis E. Powell argues that common distributions leave services on by default unnecessarily and fail to adequately document what services they provide and what these services are used for. Maybe some subscribers to this list might like to comment on the article. It could be the start of an educational thread.
