Hummingbird Exceed's version of telnet running on NT prompts the remote
telnetter with:

login: blablabla
Password:
(A) - VT Series/Graphics/ANSI Colour
(B) - Microsoft Telnet
Enter Terminal Emulation:

...then clears the screen and you get C:>

so presumable a VT100 should be OK. What the heck is Microsoft Telnet
though?
Maybe if a Windows machine telnets into another running Exceed telnet (which
by the way is based on BSD telnet), then there are some additional
"enhancements" available.
I hate to think what they've done to it!
