Hi,

Some more info..... I d\l the RH6.2 boot.img and it detects the hosts and drives fine. It uses version 5.1.28 of the aic7xxx drive whereas RH6.1 uses 5.1.20. So how/where do I get the newer version and make a bootdisk that has the new aic7xxx module on it?. Also after the install of RH6.1 I assume it will revert back to version 5.1.20 as that is what is on the CD so I need to make a kernel with the 5.1.28 version somehow.

PS I need RH6.1 as some software I need to run only has RH6.1 support.

Thanks for the help!
Sean

Subject: [SLUG] Redhat 6.1 Install Hassles with SCSI

Hi,

Here is the problem:
When installing RedHat 6.1 during the boot it detects the SCSI hosts and attempts to load the aic7xxx module. It detects the two SCSI hosts and try's to send the SCSI(1), the UW host a command but times out. The error message is something like

timed out sending command PID = 15
resetting bus - trying harder.

It loops like this and won't go any further. I have tried changing the SCSI bios options, getting the latest 6.1 boot.img, unplugging the tape unit, unplugging all but 1 drive, running a expert install and sending the aic7xxx=extended and no_reset commands but it still hangs

Here are the specs:
Intel 440GX+ Motherboard, Dual PIII 650, onboard Adaptec 7896 Ultra2 and Ultra Wide controller with 2 9G Seagate (UW) drives and a Seagate SCSI Dat drive, IDE cdrom and floppy.

Anyideas why I get this timeout?

Regards,
Sean Jackson
