We have started using tinydns/dnscache at work, on advice from our resident
security expert.
http://cr.yp.to/djbdns.html
tinydns is a dns server and
dnscache is a caching nameserver.
You would need to run both to do the local dns and caching.
This means you either bind the caching nameserver to 127.0.0.1 or have a
virtual ip for it. (As you can't run two dns services on the same ip and
port)
It's super simple to use. dnscache just works, and tinydns is setup using
provided scripts.
