How you ask... well lets see... your netmask = 255.255.255.128, thus enabling you to route 127 IP's through your single ip address. Thus stopping 127 people from connecting. Yes this works, when you traceroute from a external address, the IP that you brought up on your network does route back through your IP. If you use linux to do this, when the windows people connect, they get the message: IP Conflict. Another computer on the network is using this ipaddress. Or what ever winblows says.. Meanwhile, you get to play with as many ip addresses in that 128 block that you like. Optus have been notified _twice_ of this problem yet still it remains<shrug> I do not recommend doing this, it is just an example of what a mess O@H has become, what with the adding of them to more and more ban lists as spam continues to pour from that network. enjoy Kevin -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://slug.org.au/lists/listinfo/slug
