This is occasionally referred to as arguing for your limitations.

Granted, programmers love re-inventing the wheel, I'm no different, and
undisciplined programmers will do so until the cows come home. However,
no one programmer is capable of implementing some of the larger things
that people want to implement (echoes of Snow Crash...). If open-source
software is to start entering these spaces, then reuse is a must and
probably needs to be a result of:

- weekend programmers finding ways to reuse and to facilitate reuse,
and/or

- corporate interests driving a internal teams to build big stuff, or at
least useful frameworks.

The latter is sometimes problematic. It encourages lawyers and the like
to attempt to own the results, which is not always a good thing.
