You'll also need to do an apt-get update... Here's my sources.list, which

As you can see, I've commented a few out after being stuck with a 56k modem!

You should be able to replace all of the unstables with stable, then run

 apt-get update
 apt-get dist-upgrade


Again, you'll need to change slink to potato or stable if you want Debian
2.2.
