Hi Jeremy,
I tried hard not to send this email, because I know how frustrating it is to
receive answers such as this, but given that answers such as this have
opened my eyes to some incredible software before... I thought I'd better
just in case.
You may like to try Postfix instead.
There is a fair amount of documentation, clear and concise, aimed at giving
solutions to problems, not being everything to everyone.
Australian Postfix Mirror (docs section):
http://postfix.mirror.aarnet.edu.au/docs.html
RedHat Postfix HOWTO:
http://www.it.redhat.com/support/docs/howto/RH-postfix-HOWTO/book1.html
RedHat Postfix FAQ:
http://www.it.redhat.com/support/docs/faqs/RH-postfix-FAQ/book1.html
Not that the RedHat FAQ and HOWTO are full of very useful information, and
are only RedHat-specific where they need to be. Which isn't much. ;)
Postfix was designed to be simpler than Sendmail, and whilst I'm sure a few
of the traditionalists on the list will object, for simple purposes (and
some quite complex ones) I can't see why you wouldn't use it.
