(use eg. "Emacs*font:fixed" instead of "emacs.font:fixed")

IIRC the first bit is an X App class, which has a capitalised name, and
the last part is what you really care about (random fonts and colours),
and the stuff in between is usually crud (unless you've got editres
handy and a few hours to kill, in which case you can give apps nice
colour schemes).
