I asked a few weeks back for advice on what distro would be useful in
schools. Just like to give a couple of people a pat on the back and
acknowledge them to the SLUG community.
Firstly, a big thank you to Geoffrey Robertson from Granville TAFE who
helped set up the RH 6.2 dual boot system. His expertise in installing the
latest drivers to get X working with the new chipset was really appreciated.
All Linux people seem to be altruistic but Geoffrey's help was great.
Secondly, the Optima company at Silverwater for being willing to clone a
bunch of these dual boot machines for some of the new computer rollouts to
school. They could have just said that they would only supply win98 machines
but they were willing to come to the party as well so they deserve a wrap.I
think these may be the first machines with Linux installed that have gone
out to schools anywhere.
Looking forward to using the machines at school
