Hi All,

I'm a wee bit stumped on this. I have gif and tiff files to convert to
eps files to include in LaTeX. Conversion goes fine but when I display
them on my Alpha system runnning RH 6.0 all the eps files come out jet
black, especially photos that have grayscale.

I have an Intel SUSE (well not me actually, it Jill's box) that displays
the eps images fine and an older 486 that displays them fine. Nice
pictures.

I have tried tiff2ps and ImageMagicks convert and gimp. Displays fine on
486 and Intel but not Alpha so its not the conversion programs.
It's not the screen as the SUSE can remote display the pics nice on the
Alpha.
And as ghostview is the same on all machines that makes ghostscript
suspect as gv calls up gs to do the rastering.

                Old486 Alpha Intel
ghostscript 4.3 5.10 5.50
ghostview 3.5.8 for all machines.

I got a later gs but the compilatiion on the Alpha fails as there are
several lib linkage probs - I don't want to get into that.
Note that text displays fine and so do other eps files which are `text
only'. Its just eps files which contain binary data. The bounding box
information is there in the eps files and is correct.

Does anyone have experience of this prob? What might be the solution?
(endian prob?)
