Morning Sluggers, Especially the webcam geeks! :) A friend of the family has asked about getting a conferencing kit together for his wife, who can no longer travel because she's ill. Given that I already have half the bits (a BT848) and would like to get the other half (a simple camera) at some stage, I hope I can lend these to him so he needn't spend any money. If I continue with the BT848 plan, I know my needs are met in Linux, but I'm not sure what he'll be able to do in Windows regarding video conferencing. Plus, it would be cool to avoid any installation hassles too - he's not the sort of person who likes to think his computer box has removable screws, if you get my meaning. So I have two questions: 1) Can Linux be used for video conferencing, does the software exist, and does it use the same protocol as the Windowsey ones? or 2) If you've had to do this in Windows, is there support for the BT848, and what software should be used? Obviously, I'd prefer to go with option 1. Any ideas? - Jeff -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------- http://linux.conf.au/ -- Ye shall be cursed to fall in love so easily, and yet be so cold of heart as never to express it. -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://slug.org.au/lists/listinfo/slug
