Sorry for keeping this thread going and anybody can mail me directly if they
want but has anybody set up a RAID 0/1?
I am thinking of creating a 40GB (20+20) RAID 0 and then mirror that for
redundancy.

That's the fastest redundancy I know of.

Well I don't mean to push our products, but have you heard of DPT ? They are
the front runners in Hardware RAID, so good in fact that Adaptec bought them
out about 6 months ago

They fully support i2o drivers inside Linux - full management in X and
console and over IP.....

check em out at www.dpt.com

Ive actually given notice from my current employer and moving into a
security role in the city but yeah, if u want a quote i can get a sales guy
to email you if you're interested

Cheers,
Stephen

I actually haven't seen the specs yet... the management have already got the
quotes etc... how stupid was that..

I'm most likely going to aim at a Mylex card.

Problem is that Linux doesn't truely have a hardware RAID option does it?

"even though its a RAID 5" ?

Raid 5 is the -slowest- but the offset is its the most redundant... (OK
don't catch me out with the RAID 5+0 etc) :)

Hope you'll be running a decent hardware RAID Controller (!)

Stephen

That could be a pain. I have a +30GB database for this client to handle here
and just worried about the performance on the file system even though it's a
RAID 5.
