At the risk of either a) continuing this thread, b) embarassing myself, or
c) being told to buy beer for Terry after the next SLUG meeting, you can
tell the piece of software in question to automatically save on run, or to
prompt you.

The default is of course, broken and daft (...words that describe more than
just the defaults).
