Can you ping the first server noted in there?
Does it respond to nslookup replies?
Generally if the handshake works fine, and it connects ok and ping is
getting thru, then it is working. Another way to test the whole stack is
telnet to an IP. Pick an ip you know has a telnet server and telnet to it.
It doesnt need DNS then. If that breaks then you know the stack is broken
not just DNS.

Thats a fairly correct guess. I can't see how DNS would fail where ping
succeds and it be a modem problem.

Don't rule out a faulty phone line as the cause of many modem messes :/

Hope that helped, but I'd get a new modem anyway surely with 56k being so
cheap you are looking for any excuse to upgrade? :-P
