lister, rimmer, kryten, holly, cat, bob, blue_midget (nt machine)

Home:

willow, xander, angel, buffy, giles

others i've toyed with:

homer, marge, bart, lisa, maggie
mulder, scully, skinner, smoking_man

And now you know my viewing habits :)

I tend to assign the names on how the machine role fits the character.
giles, for instance, is a db server (librarian), although i also thought
about log host (watcher).
