assuming you don't want your print data encrypted (and you probably
do), you only really need to restrict the source IP..
LPRng can also have pgp signed print jobs, so you could allow
connections from anywhere, but only print jobs with the right
signature.
(but i still wouldn't run an internet-wide accessible lpd on your main
server ;)
