Sluggers,

is there a way to generate a /usr/src/linux/.config file that matches
the currently running kernel? So that I can compile up a new kernel
that exactly matches the one I've got and then start making changes
from there.

I can't for the life of me build a kernel that boots my machine. Yet
the default redhat 2.2.14-5.0smp kernel works fine. Seems the problem
is to do with the aic7xxx.o library. The kernel loads and boots but
I get lots of errors from the aic7xxx library and then the root file
system fails to load. (scsi based system).

Also what's the deal with the other files in the /boot directory,
System.map, module-info and initrd-2.2.14-5.0smp.img? I assume that
these have to match up with the kernel that's being booted somehow.

Many TIA's

Pete
