Well that is one reason. The other reason is that the sender is often too lazy
to specify (via Reply-To) where exactly they want the response sent back.

Setting Reply-To on your own posts means that those who respond and are
lazy need not do anything but reply. This works on the premise that
modifying your behaviour is simpler than modifying the behavious of 400+
list subscribers.
